In an excellent interview by Christopher Kelsall of Athletics Illustrated, Jessica Zelinka spills the beans. She touches on everything from funding to family to relocating and what the next four years will hold.
About not receiving her usual OTP (Own the Podium) funding she says “They make their decisions, I can’t control that, and while I wish they continued to believe in me, I believe in myself and that is what matters in the end.”
Zelinka explains that her focus for 2013 will not be on the heptathlon but rather the 100m hurdles–with the goal of making the 2013 World Championship finals in this event next summer. Fans will anxiously await what this freakishly talented athlete can do over the hurdles when she isn’t spread thin over seven other events!
We highly recommend reading the FULL INTERVIEW.
