Mutai Confirmed for Ottawa Race Weekend 10K

The field of elite runners set for Ottawa Race Weekend’s 10K just got a whole lot deeper. Tamarack Homes Ottawa Race Weekend organizers announced that Kenya’s Geoffrey Mutai has been confirmed for the event. Mutai, who covered a marathon faster than anyone in history (2:03:02 – 2011 Boston Marathon) will toe the line in downtown Ottawa -Saturday, May 27th, 2012. Interview with Taylor Milne of Speed River

The men’s 1500m is arguably one of the toughest events to consistently medal and finish high. There are countless athletes across a plethora of countries competing at a high level in the 1500 meters. The margin for error is extremely narrow and one false move can sabotage a great effort. Canada’s Taylor Milne knows this all too well. This past weekend Taylor went after the Canadian A Standard of 3:35:50 at the Payton Jordan Invitational from Stanford University but fell short running 3:38.07 in an extremely competitive field. Run Canada Month Starts Tomorrow

Run Canada month begins tomorrow–April 1st, and it is no joke! This initiative, spearheaded by Speed River Manager, Chris Moulton, has the potential to get more Canadians up and moving than ever before . Over 80 road races from across Canada are registered as Run Canada Races and will be run over the next 30 days.

Reid Coolsaet On Training And Living In Kenya

By now I shouldn’t have to tell you that Reid Coolsaet is one of Canada’s greatest runners…EVER! Some folks know Coolsaet as a marathoner, but Coolsaet made his name known in running circles well before he stepped on the line in Ottawa for his debut marathon. Coolsaet was a standout at The University of Guelph and helped Dave Scott-Thomas build the dynasty that is The Gryphons Cross Country Program, before taking to the track and running some blazing fast times. Nearly 500 Kenyan Men Ran Sub 2:20 in 2011

Kenya’s depth and sheer domination in the marathon throughout 2011 has placed the East African nation solely on top as the favorite to sweep the Olympic Marathon medals in London. According to an article on the IAAF website–Kenya is leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the planet when it comes to the marathon. 2011 saw Kenyan men win every major marathon, including; Boston, New York, London, Berlin and Chicago. Interview With The Midnite Run Toronto Race Director

The Midnite Run Toronto is a new (5km race) event that promises to be a true FUN RUN! The inaugural race is set to take place on New Year’s Eve 2011, and along the course runners will be able to take in spectacular views of the Toronto Skyline and a fireworks display.  If you think that is grand, runners and friends are invited to an after party. Yes, I said after party. I believe this is our (runners) version of tailgating.
