SV Turkey Trot Video Coverage & Interviews with Today’s Victors David McNeill & Jackie Areson

Bay Area recreational runners started the day off right with 21,000 runners taking to the streets of downtown San Jose.  Some with the purpose of setting a new personal best, while others admitted they were merely making room for calories they planned to consume at Thanksgiving feasts later in the day.

Following the recreational 5 km and 10 km race the elites took to the streets.  In additional to the star studded bay area athletes, several others made the trek to Silicon Valley to race ones of the world’s fastest 5k’s.  It was Jackie Areson of the Oregon Track Project, and Australian grown David McNeill who were victorious today running 16:02 and 13:33 respectively.

David McNeill (1st Place)— Trains in Arizona with Diego Estrada and Bernard Lagat and has the Australian Olympic Trials in the the 10,000 meters in two weeks.  It’s summer down under. We wish him the best of luck in this pursuit!

Diego Estrada (2nd place)–American citizen for less than 1 week.  Estrada says the purpose of today was to give his family a show today.

Jackie Areson (1st Place)— unofficially 16:02, Jackie says she tried to think of it as her weekly tempo run. The former Tennessee standout wishes her family a Happy Thanksgiving and gives a couple words of advice to the recreational runners out there.
