Two of America’s oldest past times team up to recognize American marathoner Desiree Davila, who inspired America with her runner up performance at the Boston Marathon last Monday. To recognize this major stepping stone in Davila’s career and the sport of female distance running, Davila will be throwing the ceremonial first pitch at the Detroit Tigers game this Tuesday, April 26th at Comerica Park.
Davila’s training center with the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project is about 30 miles north of Detroit, in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Davila’s 2nd place finish, in a time of 2:22:38 was the third fastest time ever run by an American woman, and the fastest time ever run by an American on the Boston Marathon course. Read more about Davila’s Boston Marathon feat.
