The Boston Beer Company, brewer of the infamous Samuel Adams Beer announced today that they will be the Official Beer Sponsor of The 2012 Boston Marathon. To celebrate this partnership, Sam Adams brewers have created a commemorative beer called the Boston 26.2 Brew that will be served at all Boston Marathon related events, and in most pubs along the 26.2 mile course from Hopkinton to Copley Square. The founder of Sam Adams made the following statement:
“Our partnership is a perfect fit because of our shared history: a Boston-born brewery joining the biggest of Boston traditions,”.
According to Boston.com, Jim Koch met with Joann Flaminio (President of the Boston Athletic Association) and four-time Boston Marathon Winner, Bill Rogers to officially announce the creation of the commemorative Boston 26.2 Brew.
We assume this partnership will grow stronger throughout the years and encourage others local breweries to hop on board with their hometown races.
Besides, runners do love their beer!
