Meb Threepeats, Kastor Victorious at Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose

SAN JOSE, CA (2-OCT)– On a crisp fall morning with temperatures averaging around 66 degrees, Meb Keflezighi of the Mammoth Track Club won his third consecutive title at the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon clocking a time of 1:02:17.  Giliat Ghebray (1:03:38) was runner up followed by California native Sergio Reyes (1:04:20).

Deena Kastor at Mile 4

As expected it was Deena Kastor also of the Mammoth Track Club who took the win on the women’s side running the course in just over 5:30 per mile pace (1:12:23).  Finishing 2nd and 3rd were two California residents, Clara Peterson (1:15:23) of the Bay Area Track Club and Brooke Wells (1:16:25) of the Impalas.

Runners took advantage of the race’s close proximity to Hallowe’en and were decked out in all sorts of masks and costumes.  Others chose to use the race as an opportunity to show their national pride–carrying large flags and sporting Uncle Sam hats.
