Lauren Fleshman’s Picky Bars

Lauren Fleshman’s Picky Bars

For those of you who have ever been sidelined due to an injury, you know how painful (literally) the process can be. With injuries, we now have an extra 2-3 hours a day to fill. Sure, for most normal people, that sounds like a treat. However, we are not normal people – we are runners and these extra 2-3 hours can seem almost as torturous as a fifteen-minute ice bath. Well, for Lauren Fleshman, one of America’s most decorated distance runners, being sidelined with an injury spurred a delicious innovation.

Introducing the “Picky Bar”. Now, if you are sick of eating the generic feels-like-your-chewing-on-bland-sand energy bar, you are in luck. These “Picky Bars” earned their name because their creators are just that; picky about the quality of ingredients that goes in them. When I was training with the New Balance Boston team, we received a sample box of these Picky Bars to test. Believe me when I say, these are not your average energy bar; they provide an athletically balanced snack that is both delicious and nutritious. And, being gluten and dairy free, even the pickiest of eaters can enjoy them as a post-workout snack. Hey, as far as I’m concerned, whatever helps to fuel my motivation is a good investment!

Let me guess, you’re thinking too bad they don’t ship to Canada, right? WRONG! They have just opened business to Canadian customers and with the addition of two brand new flavours, there has never been a better time to get your picky on.
