I am delighted to have this opportunity to share my passion of music and hope to provide a little for all tastes in music. I was raised on, what here in Orange County, California is called K-earth 101, which is a radio station that plays nothing but oldies chalk full of Motown melodies and classic sing-a-longs by Marvin Gaye, The Beatles, The Temptations, The Beach Boys and Elvis. I also was exposed to what I like to call the classics, which include artists like Frank Sinatra, Etta James, and Bobby Darin. From there I began to branch off into R&B and Hip Hop, which coincided with baggy jeans, sideways hats, and iced out jewelry! This is when I fell in love with the flows and rhymes of Tupac, Biggy and Andre 3000 and with the dance moves & vocals of Usher. Shortly after this stage I began to get into a variety different Singer Songwriters, some very mainstream like Jack Johnson, John Mayer and James Taylor and others who are amidst the struggle of an up and coming musician in today’s competitive industry like Dave Barnes and Tyrone Wells.
The pursuit of other talented singer songwriters eventually led me into the Country genre where I found Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney. Through them and my infatuation with Carrie Underwood my love for country grew evermore and my iPod began to shuffle through a diverse assortment of genres. Along with these varying genres of music comes a love to dance and often times the best music to dance to is Pop music, the genre that everyone loves to hate but secretly rocks out to and belts out in the shower. Even artists don’t like to be labeled as pop artists, but let’s face it we all end up listening to it one way or the other!
My most recent genre I have been looking into is a more folk/indie type of genre and it is slowly growing on me as well. The point of this rant about the history of my passion for music is to assure those of you who check out these playlists that there will be a wide variety of quality music some you will like and others you will not, but I can guarantee some nuggets of all kinds. I hope you enjoy and would love to hear your opinions and thoughts on all the different songs.
