Harroufi’s averaged 4:40 per mile to cover the 15K course in 43:30, while Timbilili clocked an average of 5:14 per mile to win the women’s race in 48:40. Belainesh Zemedkun Gebre trailed Timibilli by five seconds for a runner-up finish on the women’s side. After 9 miles of battling, the men’s race came down to the final seconds when Harroufi outkicked Peter Kamais of Kenya, for the win.
Interestingly both Harroufi, 29, and Kamais, 34, will be entering new age groups by the end of the month (30-34, and 35-39 respectively). Kamais will be celebrating his 35th birthday tomorrow–perhaps he will celebrate with a Boilermaker Burger?
