The Chiba Ekiden road race in Chiba, Japan is a marathon relay race that is a staple on the Japanese running schedule. The competition is split up into six legs (3 men and 3 women) which make up the marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres. The 2011 edition was comprised of teams from Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Kenya, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, USA, and the host country of Japan.

The 6 legs of the race are broken up as follows:

5 KM (male)
5 KM (female)
10 KM (male)
5 KM (female)
10 KM (male)
7.195 KM (female)

Team U.S.A. finished in 5th place with a total time of 2:09:06.
