As the men’s 5K approaches at the U.S.A. National Track and Field Championships, it is very likely that the fastest American to ever run the 10K, Chris Solinsky, will toe the line in compression socks. When Solinksy shocked his competition to become the first American to break the 27 minute barrier in the 10K in the spring of 2010, he blazed around the track in a pair of white compression socks. And so, the debate of the compression socks began. At the Payton Jordan Invitational, where Solinsky ran his remarkable American record, Solinsky was not the only competitor wearing compression socks. He was joined by fifth place finisher, and Canadian national record-holder, Simon Bairu. So, with two athletes wearing compression socks while achieving their respective national records, the question lingers – Do compression socks help athletes run faster? |

A Road I.D. Could Save Your Life (2)
Road I.D. Let’s talk safety! This morning I left the house just after 6 AM to embark on my long run. As per usual, I kissed my hubby as I got out of bed, told him where I was headed, and when I should return. “Going to do the Dammit Run” I said. He cracked open one very concerned looking eye, and muttered “Be careful”. Let me explain, the Dammit Run is a classic trail that climbs up about two miles to ‘Inspiration Point’ where you can get a clear view of the San Francisco Bay, it’s stunning; however, en route you cover some pretty rugged terrain, and pass your fair share of signs warning of mountain lions and other threatening wildlife. While I love my yoga pants, there are days in a girl’s life when we don’t exactly want our pant fabric grabbing at every curve in our body. On “those days” slip on your Studio Pants to boost your spirits. The thick drawstring waistband allows you to adjust based on your mood, and nifty drawstrings on the bottom of each pant leg allow you to adjust based on height or shoe choice. If you have a career that requires you to be professional yet functional (ie. coaching, P.E. teacher etc.) these are a MUST. Finally, I highly recommend these when stepping out into the cold after a good Bikram session! Feedback: Honestly these pants are so great; I can’t even come up with constructive feedback. No joke, run and get some quick! Okay fine…color choices are limited: coal, wren (brown), black. A deep purple or forest green could be cool. Price: $ 108:00 .
